This hand carved African stool is from the Ashanti tribe in the Ivory Coast, Africa. The patterns carved are all symbolic, many believed to offer protection from the "evil eye". This stool has been carved from a single piece of wood, using very primitive hand tools.

This wooden thresher was originally found in Spain. Sharpened marble chips were imbedded into the wood, then the grain was beaten against them to seperate the wheat grain from the husks and seeds.
